Well, not a whole lot to be said about the past few days. I think we have finally started to settle into our new lifestyle and relax a little. In the last few days, we’ve made dinner every night, slowed down on the Malbec, went to a super hipster “Underground Market,” found a couple of good lunch spots, and did laundry.
We also went to see Mix Master Mike a a club which was cool but it was kind of sad to see such a legend fold to popular club trends and mix in A LOT of wompy dubstep into a more traditional DJ set, but for the most part it was pretty cool. He mixed in a lot of Pantera, Rage Against the Machine, and of course Beastie Boys into a rather hip early set. Then he got into all of the other stuff and I got distracted. He probably didn’t come on until 2 or 3 and we left the club around 5, got a pizza, and made it home.
The club scene here is so ridiculous. Getting back to the “Give everyone jobs” mentality, the bar is a total cluster. Ordering a drink goes something like this: 1) wait in a massive mosh pit of dudes and try to get one single person to pay attention to you. 2) tell this one person, the cashier, what you would like. 3) pay the cashier and get a receipt with your drink order. 4) get back in the mosh pit in front of the bartenders and wait until you can give them your ticket. 5) they make you your overpriced and underdone drinks and tell you to go fork yourself.
Hey, if your economy is in the dumps, you find a way to make jobs. I also noticed in grocery stores that there are no self check out lines likely for the same reason. It makes you think about the future of developed countries with all the modernizing that goes on everyday. It’s gotta suck to have you job replaced by a machine. Anyway, not being stressed about getting a million things done and seeing all the sights and yadda yadda yadda has given me time to think about the small stuff, and I’m excited to continue on at our new pace.
