July 19
I’d been wishing for some snow and I woke up Friday morning to find that my wish had come true! Andes Lands had become a winter wonderland!

It was pretty apparent that it wouldn’t stick for long so we figured we’d better get out and about early before it all melted.
We headed towards Valle Grande. We didnt know too much about it but the couple that had stayed with us earlier in the week had said it was one of their favorite things they’d seen thus far. They didn’t quite let on just how awesome it was. The drive took us past some of the more touristy parts of San Rafael but being winter and having just snowed everything was pretty deserted. A little bit more our style. So on we drove, past the bodegas, through the foothills, past the dam, and onwards. It was a beautiful drive. We kept it short since we were without a map but even still we managed to catch some really incredible vantage points and the little bit of snow was an excellent touch. We were later told that the drive only gets better the further you go so well save that for our next visit.
After our brief little tour of of Valle Grande, we stopped at a little artesenal shop and grabbed some salami, bread, 5 liters of wine, some local Fernet, and some surprisingly good cheese for Argentina. We headed back to the home front to start the fires and settle in for the night.
