Sorry for the previous post. Glitchy Internet. Anyhow lots to catch up on so we’ll rewind to a few weeks ago.
We had said goodbye to El Chalten and Southern Patagonia and endured another humdrum 32 hour bus ride on Route 40 to Bariloche. Upon recommendation from a fellow traveler, we had made reservations at a hostel called Penthouse 1004 and needless to say we had high expectations with a name like that. Fortunately we were not the least bit let let down. It lived up to its name with its loungey living area and prime location. It was located on the top floor of an apartment building with exceptional views of the city, the lake, and the surrounding mountains. Would definitely recommend staying here if you’re looking to spend some time in Bariloche.
We had no troubles settling in, and were excited to rendezvous and spend a few days with a friend from our workaway in Chile. We spent the first night catching up and enjoying a lakeside sunset over Bariloche followed by pizza and Fernet. The following 2 days were spent combing the streets for bombachos (gaucho/argentine work pants) for the guys, cycling Circiuto Chico, drinking craft beers at Manush, and indulging in lots of beef from the carniceria around the corner.
