La Paz

December 18, 2013

So from the official legislative capital in Sucre, we arrived in the de facto capital of La Paz, the highest metropolitan city in the world. After quick downhill walk and a couple directions questions, we finally arrived at the hostel and were dead tired, so we took a nap. Afterwards, we hit the town to finish up some Christmas shopping and ended the night with some of the best fried chicken I’d ever had. It was like they fried it in spicy pepper oil. It was the most best. The next day, we recovered from dinner and went out again to buy some blankets to send home and eat more food. We stopped in a little shop specifically for saice, a spicy ground beef dish typical of the altiplano. We ordered it as part of a fixed lunch menu and naturally we were full after the bowl of awesome peanut soup, but we pushed on and filled ourselves to the gills with saice. It was incredible. One day, Holly and I will finally start splitting meals. Too much! Anyways, to recap, we bought a lot of really old beautiful textiles, ate great food, and slept. There is so much more that La Paz and Bolivia have to offer, but for now it’s “see ya later, alligator,” we’re off too the Caymans!
