Tilcara

December 3, 2013

For our final few days in Argentina, we chose to visit the small town of Tilcara.  Its part of the Jujuy Providence and situated in the Quebrada de Humahuaca mountain valley. We really liked the town itself.  It is very quaint but has great personality and is filled with artisan shops and markets. We were able to do the majority of our Christmas shopping and our two nights there was more than enough to explore. So many socks!

We started off the day taking care of visa requirements for Bolivia followed by a visit to the local market for some street-made saltenos and to peruse the Feria Americana, the SA equivalent of a thrift store. After, we had a leisurely hike to the waterfall Garganta del Diablo to take in the views of the Quebrada and tempt fate by going off the beaten trail to get a difference perspective. Although a little more stressful, the views were a little better and the trail certainly more exciting. Maybe a little too exciting for Holly.

Adios Argentina. You will be greatly missed.20140101-211235.jpg 20140101-210951.jpg 20140101-210939.jpg 20140101-211116.jpg 20140101-211045.jpg 20140101-211130.jpg 20140101-211217.jpg
